remember

January 8, 2010

I just wanted to write quick before we get back on the road because I am so moved by our Father.

About 2 weeks ago I posted a small add on Craigslist to sell my truck.  Bought is just after we got married and it served me VERY well for the last year and a half or so.  I loved that truck and the things I could do with it.

I had 2 emails come in inquiring about the truck.  I responded and never heard back.  I thought, “So this is how it’s going to be?”  Then about a week later I get another email.  Similar to the ones before… Is this item still available?  I get back to him like I had the others and expect another empty response.  That day he write back, “Oh sorry to waste your time.  I’m looking for something with 4wd.”  I said, “This truck does have 4wd.”

side note:  I would never buy a truck without 4wd.

So, I had my dad get in touch with him cause we are in Texas, on our way to Mexico.  They set up a time to meet the next morning (this morning) and I get a call saying, “I sold it for $4,000 and we have to get it inspected for him.”  Knowing my father all to well I say, “What really happened?”  He said, “He bought it for what you wanted.”

God is good!

He has been providing for us since we decided to follow our hearts and what we felt was the Lord calling us.  Our furniture and random stuff sold for what we were looking for within 2 weeks.  Our house sold to the first couple who looked at it (no realtor) for the price we were asking within 3 weeks, but then the appraisal came in lower.  It was hard to hear but we realized God was letting us know that He would provide and we didn’t need to have extra money.  Now the truck sells within 2 weeks to the first guy who looked at it for the price I was looking for.  And to go further, we had about 3 weeks or so to raise the other half of $8,000 after deciding we would cover about half of the cost to be in Mexico for the next 6 months.  As of Sunday the Lord met that financial goal and funds continue to come.  These “extra” funds will help us cover our travel driving to and from Mexico.

Everything that needed to happen when it happened has happened.  We asked God to show us what we should do and where we should go.  We asked God to provide for us and take it out of our hands.  We wanted to live a more simple life to take away distractions and be able to really focus on our relationship, our relationship with the Lord, and our relationships with others.  I know this all sounds like it’s going off with no problems, but trust me there are problems.  I’m not going to spend the time now to tell you because I want this to be an encouragement, an upbeat post.

We are so excited to be serving the Lord with our lives.  We are pumped to be doing what we are doing and for the opportunities we have had to share his love and our lives.  This journey will prove to challenge, but we truly believe God’s hand is upon us.

I’ll leave you with this…

Don’t get caught up with the busy life.  You will miss your wife, your husband, your kids, friends, and family.  You will miss opportunities to give, to serve, and to love.

Don’t get caught up in money.  You will miss the richness the Lord has for you.

Don’t get caught up in yourself.  You will miss everything else.

Don’t get caught up in fear.  You will miss living a truly authentic and full life.  And don’t forget, this doesn’t mean everything will be happy and lollipops.  Authentic life is hard, sad, heavy, but true joy from God cannot be compared to the joy we know on this earth.  Fear keeps us from joy, and joy is often hidden behind pain.

Overall, don’t miss God.  Don’t forget who your Creator is.  Don’t forget your Father.  Don’t forget the love that has been showered upon you unconditional.  Don’t forget Jesus… his message, his purpose, his example, his sacrifice, his life, his death, and his resurrection.

All throughout scripture we are told to REMEMBER!  Never forget!!!
